Pepper, Cupid, Feathers, Coconut, and Sugar enjoy scratching for bugs among the desert foliage. The children of Stone Curves took the initiative the name the chickens. Having chickens allows the opportunity for children to become more intimately aware of the food chain.
The chickens' diets are also supplimented by food scraps, which reduces waste by keeping organic material they eat out of landfills. The chicken coop was built using as much salvaged material as possible, also reducing waste. The "Cluck team", or team of residents who took on the project, visited 3 other local coops in the area for inspiration for the design of the coop.
We plan on growing the flock to 24 birds in a 6 month period. The eggs are rotated between each Village so everyone has the opportunity to enjoy fresh eggs. The initial 12 chickens will produce approximately 9 eggs/day or roughly 5 dozen eggs/week. These two are named Sissy and Cluckie
