Mike, Jen and Mary
We
moved to Stone Curves in June of 2007. Jen and Mike moved to Tucson in
2002, right after Mike earned his Master's degree in History at NAU in
beautiful Flagstaff . Mike is currently a history teacher at Amphitheater
High School , and also teaches history for Pima Community College . In
his free time, Mike enjoys playing music, biking, and learning to be handy.
Jen
holds a BA in Sustainable Community Development from Prescott College
. She devotes her energy into raising our daughter and to expressing her
creativity through a variety of mediums.
Mary
is a dynamic, friendly, and compassionate little girl. She enjoys painting,
playing with her friends, and camping and hiking with her mama and papa.
Suzanne, Garth
and Marlene
We've
been living in Tucson and involved with Stone Curves since 2003,
moving here shortly after finishing our Peace Corps service in Guatemala
. We are progressing steadily towards living more
sustainably by experimenting with solar cooking,
organic
gardening, bike building, water conservation, harvesting native
foods, composting, cobbing, long stretches between bathing, and
a bunch of other things. We love to talk and work with others
with similar interests.

Carol and Sylvia
Carol and Sylvia sailed into Stone Curves from Connecticut
in January 2005. Before Connecticut, between them they had
lived in 13 states and four foreign counties. But they are
here to stay, now that they both teach at the University of
Arizona.
Sylvia, a political scientist, teaches in the UA Department
of Latin American Studies. The current focus of her teaching
and research is on Latin American social movements, particularly
the environmental movement. It's an interest stemming from
her political activism in the States, dating back to the 60s
movements, and the ten years she spent living in Brazil and
Panama. Her passions, besides Latin America, are hiking
trails, bicycles, novels, acting, and her two daughters and
four grandchildren in Portland, Oregon.
Carol teaches and writes on subjects relating to property
law, natural resources and the environment. (Stone Curves
gives her lots of examples for property classes!) She
came to the U of A Law College in part because of the tremendously
interesting and important environmental issues in the desert.
On her down time she reads everything she can about the fascinating
Sonoran plants, and then she goes outside to get up close
and personal with them in the back yard and around the grounds.
She is something of a birder, and she has been thrilled to
see the birds that have arrived in Stone Curves even in the
short time that our vegetation has had to mature.
She likes hiking and biking, and she rides a bike to the University
more days than not. She and Sylvia feel as if
they have just barely started to explore the music, theater
and art of the Tucson area -- more of that to come!

Dan and Gina
Gina
(59) is a retired Elementary School Counselor and an empty
nester with her husband of 33 years. Gina loves children,
cuddles newborns at Tucson Medical Center, and teaches infant
massage to parents in groups or individually. An
avid walker. she enjoys Stone Curves' proximity to the
Rillito River paths. She practices yoga, and
sings soprano in the U of A University/Community Chorus.
Gina has served on various teams including the Green team,
CHIC, and Cooking team and has enjoyed cooking in the community
kitchen on many occasions. She was the first Village 4 rep.
to Neighborhood Council and co-founded the Stone Curves
Women's group. Along with others, Gina does a weekly
clean up of the area outside our curving wall. Gina
enjoys reading and art, and hopes a piece of marble she's
been chiseling for 30 years will find completion and a home
somewhere at Stone Curves! Being in community with friendly
neighbors and contributing in whatever way she can is
a joy for Gina.
Dan
(56) is a husband, a dad, and a drummer. He had a 22-year
career in broadcasting and business communications (as a corporate
film and video producer). A 2006 graduate of the U of A College
of Fine Arts focusing on Percussion Studies, Ethnomusicology
and Anthropology, he performs jazz, pop, African and dixieland
music with groups in Tucson. Now newly "re-retired"
(this time from academia!), he has many musical, ethnomusicological,
eduational and other irons in the fire. He also loves
RV traveling, hiking, biking, poetry, cooking, grdening, film
and humor. A frequent cook (keep an eye out for the
next Saturday morning breakfast!), Dan particularly enjoys
sharing food, music, and life in general with his fellow cohousers
at Stone Curves.
Dan
and Gina are the proud parents of two grown daughters, Charlotte
(31) a costume designer living in L.A., and Lillie (28), a
nurse in Tucson. |

Irma
settled in Tucson more than 35 years ago, after living
in many places both in the U.S. and abroad. She raised
three children in Tucson and worked in research virology.
She was led away from the research lab in her mid-thirties
to become a human sexuality educator. She has worked with
people of all ages and joyfully anticipates the sounds
of children, dogs, cats, and hamsters at Stone Curves.
She's also an avid organic vegetable gardener! |

Hannah Gardner
and
Shawn Mulligan
Hannah
and I are recent transplants (3+ years) from beautiful western
NY - where Hannah was born and I, well, was probably born
in some ways too in 13 years of living there! I was raised
by descendents of pioneers, in Wyoming, and my coming of age
in the 1970's included helping Grandpa stack fresh cut hay
with his old-fashioned haystacker and running Micky's milk
through the milk separator. A few years ago, we helped relatives
tear down the old homestead house and salvaged the fur floor
boards, which has been transformed into unique, rustic wall
unit, in our dining room. My brothers and I used to get slivers
in our feet from those old floor boards!
Hannah
is a kid who loves to invent her own way through life..and
in a perfect life would have a full-time homeshooling parent
who followed her lead. In the alternate perfect life, she
is a student at Kino School, which provides her a wonderful
environment of self-directed learning and an emphasis on the
well being of each member of that community. One of her greatest
joys is her dog Dusty, who she rescued from the dog pound
with 1 ½ years worth of allowance. Dusty is now thriving
in dog obedience and soon will be a student of agility training,
all at the hands of his best friend and mistress.
We
love to go on adventures together..there was the fly-out of
thousands of snow-geese and sand-hill cranes at Bosque Del
Apache, New Mexico at 6:00am in January and then there was
the camp-out atop a fire-tower in southern Colorado. A new
hobby we have found is Letterboxing ( www.letterboxing.org
) - like a treasure hunt out in the big wide world! Our
first experience was atop the Animas Overlook, overlooking
Durango, CO. Check it out - great for kids.
Our
dog Schuyler, is 13 and teaches us that joy is threaded through
all the wrinkles of life.
Life
is full and rich with new perspectives, trails to discover
and rocks to turn over.

Chicago natives Norm and Judy met in Washington, D.C.
in 1961 while she was an aide to Congressman Mo Udall
and he was training naval officers at the Naval Intelligence
School. Norm spent most of his working career
with General Electric developing new turbine materials
for jet engines and gas turbine power generators. Judy
was able to be an at home Mom and to volunteer with
the Institute of Cultural Affairs, a global NGO that
helps groups and communities discover and activate positive,
sustainable futures. Norm loves athletics and keeps
trying to improve his golf game. Judy may take it up
if it doesn't get too serious |

They
enjoy Arizona Wildcat basketball, hiking, gardening, learning
through travel, entertaining, finding great houses, writing
memoirs, dabbling art, and much much more. They have created
homes in Connecticut; New York; Cincinnati, Ohio; and a winter
nest in Tucson (where Judy's family moved in 1948).
Stone Curves is helping Norm and Judy accomplish
their dream of having a gracious, energy efficient home in
the sun with great neighbors, while staying well connected
to their 3 children, 6 grandchildren, and friends in the Midwest.
They spend half the year in a beach cottage on Lake Michigan
in Northern Indiana. "Stone Curves makes such good sense for
us and we feel we are investing in sustainable, healthy living
options for the planet."

Lemmon to biking on the river path. Alan and Tracy love to travel
internationally and plan to take Kate along when she is old enough
to appreciate it. Kate loves to play with her dogs, make a mess
with her toys, and play in the sandbox with all of the other Stone
Curves Kids. She looks forward to lifelong friendships with the
other kids in the neighborhood. Bear and Sasha love to bark and
go for walks. Bear is by far the wisest individual in the family
and shares her wisdom freely. Sasha wants nothing more then somebody

Lily, and Milena
Caroline
(41) is the mother of 8year-old Lily, and 3 year-old Milena.
She can't quite remember a time when she wasn't a mother.She
is Italian-Canadian and must frequently visit both Canada
(to practice smiling, being friendly, and playing by the rules)
and Italy (to eat, yell, and be passionate without fear of
repercussion). She loves to read, walk, visit new countries,
talk to friends, knit, hang with her kids and cuddle them,
and kayak on the ocean. She misses Vancouver and wonders what
the desert will come to mean to her. She is so happy to have
found Stone Curves, where she suspects that smiling, being
friendly, playing by the rules, eating, yelling, and being
passionate will all have a place.
Caroline
is married to Eugene (42). He is a wonderful and devoted father.
He works and lives part time in Phoenix and commutes on the
weekends in order to do the thing he loves the best - spending
time with his family.
Lily

out with Milena.
Milena
loves to make up songs, eat, cuddle, and hang out with Lily.

Susan
- I lived in a commune for 12 years from 1970
to the early 80's. Since then I have often wondered
if there was a way of living that might capture something
of the community of that time. When I happened upon
Stone Curves I felt that I might have found the middle
ground I have been seeking since then -- that place
where individual and community can connect without either
being diminished. I recently finished my schooling with
a M.A. in Counseling Psychology from Pacifica Graduate
School and have a small private practice. My passions
are writing and the creative experience in general.
Currently my horse, Chiron, fulfills that need. Back
in the early 90's I wrote a novel and and a large body
of poetry. I hope to return to my writing in my new
office in my new home at Stone Curves. And I also look
forward to having my three sons and granddaughter come
to visit so they can get to know the Stone Curvers! |

Allen,
Jason,
Tessa and Rio
|
Hi,
I am Allen and I was born and raised in Memphis, TN. This
is the first time that I have lived anywhere outside of Memphis.
After graduating from high school I went into the floral industry
and started working at a local floral wholesaler. Several
years later I went to work for one of my customers who owns
a very successful shop. Four years later, I opened my own
shop with the help of a friend at my previous flower shop.
While owning my own shop life changed dramatically. This was
a time of self-exploration and renewal. Shortly after this
I met the love of my life, Jason. Not only did I meet my future
husband but I was gaining a new four legged son, Rio. Rio
and I seemed to bond very well right from the beginning (really
weird for someone that wasn't really a cat person). On May
24, 2003, the second anniversary of our first date, Jason
and I were married by a dear friend of ours who is a former
Franciscan monk.
During
my spare time I can be found either on my computer or playing
my digital piano. (If you come by expecting to hear music
and you don't hear anything, I have my headphones on.) On
Sundays you can find me playing for our Church's Traditional
Service. When I'm not there then you can find me in the kitchen
preparing a meal, or a semi-elaborate dinner party, for family
and friends to enjoy. You'll soon find out that I don't do
much without going ALL OUT.
My
name is Jason, and I was also born in Memphis, TN but only
came to live there in 1998, having lived in Mississippi and
middle Tennessee. I'm currently a graduate student in the
Sociology Ph.D. program of the University of Arizona (the
reason Allen and I moved to Tucson in 2003). Right now I'm
most interested in gender & sexuality, and how these intersect
with areas like social movements and religion. I did my undergraduate
work at The University of Tennessee at Martin in Biology.
I also attended medical school for a few years at UT Memphis,
but decided that was not for me. Alongside my academic pursuits
I have been heavily involved in community activism of several
varieties.
I
like to pursue a variety of intellectual interests, and to
expand my horizons by learning about new things. My first
love is reading, and I especially enjoy fantasy and nonfiction
of all sorts. I also like to write. I've had a fondness for
video games (and board games, card games, etc) since a pretty
early age. I also enjoy other hi-tech hobbies like music,
video/DVD, and computers. I have a blog (online journal),
am involved in a couple of "cyber-initiatives," and have been
known to chat and MUD on occasion. I have also done a fair
amount of web design for some organizations and friends, but
nothing special. I have aspirations to play the guitar and
maybe piano some day.
We
were among the original families of StoneCurves, moving in
on January 15, 2005. We really enjoy knowing our neighbors
on a first-name basis! Jason's community efforts mostly deal
with community process and facilitation. Allen works with
the CHIC team to ensure the Common House is a functional and
welcoming place for neighbors and guests.
In
July 2005 we added a new member to the family, our miniature
dachshund, Tessa Marie. Tessa is a rescue adoption through
the Central Texas Dachshund Rescue.

| Lane
Lane
has been living in Tucson for 24 years now, plus 3 years she
lived here in the early 70's with her family. She has
always loved the desert and the surrounding mountains in the
Tucson basin and she wants to be part of the solution to end
urban sprawl and the destruction of this beautiful valley.
The idea of living in a planned community where neighbors
help each other out and conserve resources by planting, recycling,
sharing, growing, and celebrating fits her values of doing
something small but significant for the hope of the planet.
Lane
is a child and family therapist at Arizona's Children Association's
residential treatment center for children. She adores
felines and currently lives with several of them plus one
feral cutie that she caught as a kitten, had neutered, and
rereleased. He has returned for every meal since then.
Two of the cats, Babette and Stewart, will come to live with
her when she moves into her new home this spring!

Isabel
Having
lived all my life in the Northeast (except for one year in
San Francisco), Tucson is a new world for me. I was born in
New York, attended Cornell University, and raised my children
in the mid-Hudson Valley. I've lived for the past twenty-plus
years in the Boston area. The Southwest has been calling me
since I drove across New Mexico and Arizona with my veterinarian
husband before my first child was born. I returned to Arizona
briefly this fall and fell in love with Tucson and with the
vision of Stone Curves.
I like painting, adventures, exploring, swimming, theater,
dance, reading and discussing (history, arts and ideas, politics,
food and cooking). Innovation and creativity fascinate and
rejuvenate me.
I design and develop online learning programs for a living
and would like to work with local university distance learning
programs and enrichment courses for younger scholars. I was
once an art teacher, so I look forward to working with the
Stone Curves kids on art projects.
Right now, I'm living what I hope is my last New England winter.
Although I have two grown children (living in New York and
Connecticut, respectively), I have no grandchildren, so I
hope to be an extra grandmother to the kids at Stone Curves.
I'm looking forward to swimming in the Stone Curves pool,
painting the desert, learning to cook for large groups of
people(!?!), and listening to lots of mariachi music.
My household includes a handsome polydactyl black cat named
Nikki, who sees auras.

Carl Manz and
Christine Johnson
We moved to Tucson
from Bastrop, Texas in the summer of 2004. Prior to
our move, we owned and managed residential rental property.
Anticipating the economic changes attendant on "peak oil,"
we moved
here in order to participate in the development of Stone Curves.
Our
hope is that Stone Curves will one day become an exemplary
part of the
larger collection of built sustainable communities.
Carl is working towards getting a good number of people onto
electric
power assisted bikes. He designs a custom bike that
will get a person,
depending on their needs, up and down a mountain with ease
or across
town and back without exhausting their own personal energy
reserves.
Christine works in community association management, assisting
homeowner associations in their governance responsibilities
and
financial and facilities management.

Chris
Diversity
is the spice of life. My path for the earlier part of this
life was of a physical nature and I enrolled in the graduate
school of planet earth. Biking and climbing around the world
has taught me the value of a good pair of shoes, strong lungs,
and the ability to really appreciate ramen noodles. I am an
extreme liberal and think that GW Bush and decaf coffee are
the antichrists. The demise of western civilization began
with light beer which has led to Barbie dolls and Hummers.
My
6 year old daughter Sequoia is my greatest teacher and her
constant living in the moment is a reminder that it is the
journey and not the destination that holds the greatest value.
The other member of the family is our dog, Socrates, who reminds
us that an unexamined life is not worth living.
Currently
I am pursuing a Masters in Counseling Psychology and am enjoying
getting my mind stretched as I attempt to learn from the archtypes
of my dreamscape. The working world is made up of guiding
rock climbs, working as a facilitator for Miraval, program
development for the Youth Corps of Southern Arizona, and an
internship with a local substance abuse clinic. In my free
time I am Dad and I sleep.
Stone
Curves is about meeting people who revel in their eclectivity,
embrace diversity, and are on a path that is dictated by heart
and not by the media.

Tom and Janette
Tom was born in Budapest, Hungary, at the end of September
in 1941. His first experience of community living came in
1944 when he huddled in an air raid shelter, carved into the
side of a cliff, and heard distant explosions of aerial bombardment.
With his mother, he left his native Hungary in 1957 and came
to the United States -- Oberlin, Ohio -- in 1958. After getting
a little learning in that town's college and at the Journalism
School of Columbia University, he became a newspaper copy
editor and reporter in the Boston area. In a couple of years,
literary interests drew him from Boston to the Iowa Writers'
Workshop.
Tom spent the bulk of his working years as a professor of
English and Journalism at Loop (later Harold Washington) College
in downtown Chicago. After he and Janette retired, they moved
to Tucson in the spring of 2000. Currently, Tom's main interests
are philosophy, literature, cooking and hanging out with congenial
people. He'd like to learn more about gardening in southern
Arizona.
Having long believed that the quality of one's life is largely
determined by the quality of the people around one, Tom finds
himself contended living at Stone Curves.
Janette lived in Chicago and worked in educational publishing
until four years ago. She and Tom had visited her son David
and his family in Tucson several times before deciding to
move here. Once here, she decided that she preferred hiking,
volunteering at Sabino Canyon, attending SAGE classes, and
babysitting for her grandchildren (now numbering five since
her daughter Marianne and her family moved to Tucson in 2003)
to working as a freelance editor. She continues, however,
to think of herself as a writer and educator and hopes to
remain useful as such for the rest of her life.
She loves to travel and has just visited Guetamala recently.
Hannah,
Matt, and Dahlia
My name is Hannah Ildiko Lang. I am first generation
American. Both my parents emigrated from Hungary years
ago and settled in a Connecticut town one hour east of
New York City. I have lived here most of my life, except
for my college years which were spent in Newport, Rhode Island
and Budapest, Hungary. I studied Fine Arts with a focus
in Painting and Photography. In my mid-twenties, I returned
to school to become a Massage Therapist. I furthered
my studies in Jin Shin Do Acupressure and have been working
in this field for 8 years. My precious daughter, Dahlia
Grace, was born 3 years ago, after which my time has
been devoted mostly to parenting. In the past few
months, I have begun to pursue my lifelong passion for
dance and movement more seriously by completing a Kripalu
Danskinetics teacher training. I have been dancing and
doing yoga for the past 17 years. I look forward to
sharing some "moves" with the soon-to-be Stone Curves community!
I also hope to help out in the organic garden, with cooking
for community meals and childcare. I also
look forward to spending time with our new neighbors.
In my rare free moments, I enjoy dancing/moving, journaling,
writing, discussing philosophy, religion, world matters and
then walking outdoors to clear my head. I met my better
half, Matthew, 14 years ago...in a modern dance class.
He is an architect and a great dad. When he gets a chance,
he enjoys reading, listening to music and painting watercolors.
We both like to travel and explore new places. Matt's
looking forward to living in big, open spaces again since
he is a Colorado native. He's also lived in Minneapolis,
Boston. Lawrence(Kansas) and Libya(Africa). In the near future,
however, we will be living in Tucson, Arizona, unit E48-next
to the pool!
Dahlia, our daughter, enjoys playing with her best
friend, playing outdoors especially at the park and playing
dress-up. Playing" is the key word here! She loves animals,
except bugs...and seems to prefer cats. We're
sure she will enjoy the pets, the pool and particularly the
other youngsters at Stone Curves.

Monika
Monika is an open
minded graduate student in sociology. She has worked
in a variety of volunteer and paid positions including director
of a crisis line, phlebotomist, EMT, reiki master, Chinese-speaking
missionary, ACT teacher, secretary, research assistant to
an author, file clerk, hospice volunteer, substitute teacher,
piano instructor, actress, minister, writer, investor, ocial
researcher, nursing assistant and foster kitty care provider.
It has been said that she has a "hyperactive initiative drive." She
also enjoys community and is looking forward to developing
relationships at Stone Curves. She will be living with
an eclectic collection of cats and roommates.

Cynthia and Martin
Martin grew up in the
big city of Detroit, MI, but developed an appreciation of
rural life and nature at his grandparents' farm. He learned
about community organizing in the Civil Rights era and the
anti-war movements of the last 30 years.
Martin has been drawing and painting since grade school. He
took a minor in Fine Arts at Aquinas College in Grand Rapids,
MI along with a BA in Philosophy.
Martin traveled around North America and Europe in the 70's,
writing songs and playing guitar and banjo in bars and cafes.
He worked in food co-ops, and was president of the Russell
Gulch Co-operative marketing Association researching alternatives
in energy use. He lived in several intentional communities,
including an ashram where he learned yoga.
Martin received a graduate degree in Social Work from the
University of Washington in 1991. He moved to the Silver City
area in 1993 as a Social Worker at Gila Regional Medical Center.
He is now a Crisis Counselor at SAMHC Crisis Center in Tucson.
Martin believes that when we work together we become stronger
and smarter and better able to handle our changing world.
He looks forward to meeting everyone and being a member of
the Stone Curves community.
Cynthia Ann grew up in a small farming community,
population 6,000, in southeastern Wisconsin. She likes the
familiarity of a small town environment but loves the culture
and opportunity a bigger city has to offer.
Cynthia Ann has lived in the southwest for 24 years and was
guided to Tucson 1 1/2 years ago with her husband Martin
by her side. She is a real newcomer to the concept of cohousing,
however, from the moment she took the initial Stone Curves
tourshe knew that Stone Curves was a place she could call
home. She treasures the idea of living in a conscious community
where there is respect for the environment and each other,
where diversity is encouraged and the support offered that
allows each other to work their process. She looks forward
to great times in the common house, learning more about permaculture
and quiet times on their porch and balconies.
Cynthia is a scholarship counselor at the University of Arizona.
In addition she has facilitated consious energy breathing,
is aReiki Master, does ear coning, and facilitates fire ceremonies
for purification.

Kathy
It
was love at first sight when I first arrived in Tucson in
December of 1968. Being from Buffalo, NY, I was dazzled by
the warm, sunny turquoise blue skies and the exquisite beauty
of the desert. Tucson's charm captured my heart and I felt
that I was home.
I
felt the same sense of 'coming home' when I moved into the
Stone Curves Community. Living here has felt like 'being a
member of a large family' of interesting people sharing common
objectives. It is definitely a wonderful opportunity for growth,
as we learn to live in community. I look forward to the richness
of possibilities and potential of life together over the years.
As
a quick background, vocationally, my life has followed two
pursuits. art and science. I am currently a Senior Research
Specialist in the Neural Systems, Memory and Aging division
of Arizona Research Labs at the University of Arizona.
My
greatest love is ever expanding my consciousness and deepening
my understanding by exposing myself to new ideas and experiences.
I enjoy just being. I enjoy being with people, and being in
nature, and activities like reading, hiking, rockscaping,
and the arts.
Joe
and Linda
Linda is 57, currently a psychotherapist who it seems has
worked full time since she was about five years old.
She's excited about taking a year off, doing some traveling,
spending time with grandchildren and moving into Stone Curves.
She has two sisters with whom she migrates to Las Vegas two
or three times a year to "have a blast." She and Joe
practice Tibetan Buddhism and are connected with the Garchen
Institute near Prescott. She is the grandmother of three
girls, Arabella, Alexandria, and Jnana. Linda has conducted
sweatlodges, done Sundances with the Crows in Montana, studied
with a Native American Shaman, and refuses to practice any
form of black magic to the delight of her family and friends.
Joe is 58, graduated from Yale in 1967 right between
George W. Bush and Bob Kerry. They seem to have squeezed
him out of his chance for the presidency. He's worked
with troubled adolescents, currently a Rolfer, and is
finishing a Masters in Counseling Psychology from Pacifica
Graduate Institute. He's Sundanced with the Crows, done
a lot of alternate "workshops", like Breathwork and Shamanic
Journeying, and Men's work via the Mankind Project.
A father of two
and grandfather of three Goddess Girls, he is excited about
the complexity of living in a heartful community.
The people he's met from Stone Curves are kindred spirits
in their love of life and desire to make a contribution
in the world.

Laurel
I'm
a gardener, a sea kayaker, a mother of two grown children,
a teacher, a member of a large and close-knit family, a traveler,
a dancer, a singer, and a maker of good soups.
I
worked for many years at the University of Arizona , teaching
English as a Second Language and also a couple of graduate
courses for people in the Master's program in ESL. I've also
written a few books that have been well received by teachers.
In
2001 I had to quit daily teaching because of a repetitive
strain injury. I miss the regular contact with students, but
I love the flexibility I have in my days now. I'm writing
a textbook for new immigrants, and I lead workshops for teachers,
here in
Tucson
, in other states, and sometimes overseas. In the workshops
I share practical activities that help students learn more
while making teachers' lives easier. I also lead workshops
on stress reduction. I love the creative exchanges of ideas
that happen in these workshops!
I'm looking forward
to more creativity in my life, to the next adventure - whatever
it may be - and to getting to know more Stone Curvers.

Vicky
Bradley
I've enjoyed raising my two, now adult
children, Veronica and Charles, in my "adopted" city of Tucson.
We have always enjoyed the outdoor life of Arizona and neighboring
states, camping, and exploring the backroads. I also love
to play tennis, and taking the younger StoneCurvers on Junior
Hikes. I'm blessed to have work that I love in a variety of
clinical settings and a private practice (yes, please refer!),
and enjoy relaxing when I come home to our StoneCurves community.
One day I hope to spend more time painting and playing music,
and traveling to some, as yet unknown, corners of the world.

Rob
Rob, a member of
the Stone Curves community since January '05, is 48 years
old and challenged by Asperger's Syndrome, schizophrenia and
epilepsy. His interests are mainly involved with rock music
from the 60's (the Beatle Invasion) and the space program.
Rob has worked for the past 15 years in various industries
and is presently working at a docent at the Pima County Air
and Space Museum. He shares his home with his 14 yr. old kitty,
General. Rob's sister, Ann, lives in Tucson and her 6 grown
children are very close to Rob and are interested in learning
more about the philosophy of cohousing. Rob's mother, Lu,
spends the winters here in Tucson and is also delighted with
the concepts of neighborhood that have established Stone Curves.
Rob very much enjoys the Tucson sunshine and doesn't miss
walking in the cold and snow of his former home in Ohio. |

Tyler, Everest and Tanya
Tyler, although a self-professed introvert given to long reveries
when he thinks he sees a wild mushroom, can sometimes be fun
if you get between one and one-and-a-quarter glasses of wine
in him. He rarely has occasion to get in as much trouble
as he used to, so at the age of thirty, he feels it is time
to be getting back in touch with his Inner Teenager.
FUN FACT: Tyler just got a landscape architecture degree
from UC Davis, and is moving to Tucson for, of all things,
a job. It all sounds so normal that it must be a dream!
Everest, for his part, claims to be either 1) an AX gas from
outer space with glowing red eyes, an allergy to oil, and
a 40-billion-year past, or 2) Mosquito Man, undercover as
a third grader.
FUN FACT: If you were to spread Everest's legos out
one layer deep, they would cover the state of Rhode Island.
Tanya has the good
fortune of being outwardly indistinguishable from a regular
person, and can appear in public without arousing any suspicion.
One of her favorite activities is writing "to do" lists after
she's already done most of the things on the list. She also
likes mountains, Nabokov, expensive restaurants, Magic (the
card game), interesting people, and the word "cristae" - not
necessarily in that order.
FUN FACT: She has always wanted a pet marmot.

| Ann
Boggiano...purchased her home at Stone Curves in
July of 2005. She grew up in New York City.
She
loved children and teaching and put herself through college
by teaching during the day and going to college at night.
She then had 3 children under the age of three and after her
youngest went to preschool resumed her interest in education
by attending graduate school to do research about modes of
educational systems to optimtize intrinsic interest to learn.
She combined her interest in education by then teaching at
the university level in the Department of Psychology at C.U.,
Boulder and published research relevant to educational systems.
She subsequently went into private practice as a psychotherapist
in Boulder, Co., which she hopes to continue in Tucson. |

Ania
Ania’s
name reflects her Polish ancestry. She currently lives north
of Tucson in the other Valley of the Sun, Phoenix. Ania came
to investigate cohousing in Tucson thinking there must be
people in the Phoenix area interested in this concept. However,
no cohousing group has yet formed in Phoenix. At this point
in her life, she doesn't want to wait five to ten years to
live in a community based on cooperation such as Stone Curves,
so she shifted her thinking to, "Go where the cohousing
community is building, become part of the process, and a job
will follow." Ania is currently a teacher at a secondary
charter school in Phoenix. |
She’s
acting on faith that Stone Curves Cohousing is the life style
she wants to age with and invite her two married daughters
and their families to enjoy when they visit. Ania gained a
new title this year, Granny Anny, with the arrival of her
first grandchild, Niobe, who at four days old had her passport
picture taken. With passport in her Mami's hand, she returned
to Honduras at one month old where her father eagerly awaited
the arrival of his wife and daughter. Niobe is a world citizen
in the making!
Ania
says "I trust I'll have years of active service to Stone
Curves, and when my sitting time on the porch increases, I'll
have more time for sharing stories with children of all ages,
and I'll have neighbors who care about me. I can't think of
a better long-term care policy or ‘assisted living’
than the investment I'm making in Stone Curves Cohousing." |
